Photographer, documentary filmmaker, reporter, sailor, activist and writer, author of the book "Seven Years In Seven Seas".

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, an exuberant city surrounded by mountains, the sea, and the Atlantic Forest. Growing up in this setting had a profound effect on me. I felt deeply connected to these rich environments and found it impossible to avoid being moved to want to preserve such precious beauty. Not just only for myself, but for the future generations of humanity and wildlife with whom we share the natural world.

This connection fuelled a desire to protect our natural world, and led me on a journey both personal and professional, working with many global organisations.

Throughout this journey, I have embraced a wide variety of roles to achieve my goals, such as photographer, documentary filmmaker, reporter, sailor, activist, published author of the book
"Seven Years In Seven Seas", and also cofounder of Liga das Mulheres pelo Oceano.

Over the course of seven years, I have made a journey through more than 80 countries. I faced numerous obstacles on this journey, being approached by pirates in Africa, sailing through severe storms on the high seas, confronting illegal fishing and mammal hunting in the Faroe Islands, and enduring the complete deprivation of my liberty. The legacy of all this led to a tremendous amount of learning, the development of important skills, and exponential personal growth.

This pilgrimage has resulted in being able to achieve significant visibility through media organisations such as Le Monde, The Guardian, The Los Angeles Times, BBC online, The Australian, Vanity Fair, Vice Media (Canada), Discovery Channel, and Globo TV. Furthermore, I've been awarded tremendous opportunities to be involved with former President Al Gore in Rio de Janeiro and recently, I am proud to have jointly founded the organisation Women's League for the Ocean.

Reflecting upon these experiences over the years, I realized that the journeys I've taken were never merely a physical voyage, but something that began inside my soul. I realized that it was here, in the connection of internal change manifesting into physical action that I create, exchange, and share.

This has been highly beneficial for both my physical and emotional being. More importantly, I believe these types of journeys are not just mine to hold but to share. I have a lot to offer, whether through lectures, exhibitions, performances, writing, the registration of my works in still and moving images, including a plethora of online content creation.

Even though we are different, we, together with all other species are part of a larger whole. We have to live together and remain tolerant of one another. So let's cultivate coexistence, because we all have everything to gain from it.

For these reasons, I put myself at your service across a variety of platforms and mediums, available in a multitude of packages.

"Barbara Veiga, a true warrior, a fighter for fair causes that affect our common home, The Earth and therefore all its inhabitants, of course we humans included, a talented photographer and writer with already one book released, a human being who inspires many around the world and whom I wish fair winds and all the best forevermore."

Pablo Korman  | Wind Turbine Installation Lead

"Barbara worked from 2009 to 2014 with Sea Shepherd, being part of the team in several campaigns as in Antarctica and the Mediterranean. She worked mostly with photography and video, as well as a spy in the Faroe Islands. Her charisma and ability to work in teams brought new perspectives, professionalism, and stunning images to the missions aboard the ships she sailed along the years, the Steve Irwin and Gojira. One of her photographs is the cover of the book "Cetacean Nation", I wrote."

Paul Watson founder of Sea Shepherd and co founder of Greenpeace

"Barbara is one of those people who completely loves  what she does. And the result is clearly perceptible, both in fast, precise delivery and full of images that fill the eyes, and in easy communication and professional posture in the field."

Caio Paganotti / Photo Editor Greenpeace Brazil

"Barbara is a force of nature: fearless, focused and serious, without losing her tenderness.  Barbara inspires and encourages me, with her plans and achievements aimed at the preservation of the oceans. She has a lifelong project for the benefit of all of us and our future."

     Suzana Amado,

"Barbara Veiga participated in the 2nd International Forum of Environmental Film Festivals at the 25th edition of CineEco. She brought us strong messages from her experiences to reflect on the paths that must be followed to preserve air quality, natural habitats, biodiversity and the environment in general. Because only a radical change in our habits can save the world. Barbara Veiga uses film, photography and performance art to address these issues and to help people act now!"

    Mário Branquinho
    CineEco Director

“Barbara represents the strength of women, intelligent, altruistic, because she dedicates her life to the survival of all living beings and our planet. It inspires us to look at the environment, to learn to care for it, after all, the future of our existence depends on this type of action“.
